Saevus magazine, the country’s foremost nature and wildlife magazine, in association with Rotary Clubs and Round Table across the country had organized the SAEVUS ECO ACHIEVERS QUIZ - 2016,
Powered by Skybags. Teams of three comprising students from standards 5th, 6th and 7th standards had taken part in the quiz championing the cause of the natural world!
The Eco-Achievers Quiz was a hugely successful and the first of its kind programme organized by Saevus magazine celebrating its vision of ‘conservation through appreciation’ with an aim to develop a strong environmental consciousness among school childrens.
The theme of the quiz was “Juxta” whereby the students where questioned about nature and wildlife related topics from all walks of life like literature, science, movies, mythology etc.
The quiz was organized in association with Rotary Clubs in 20 plus cities in the country between September and January. The winners from city rounds were pitted against each other in the national finale held in Mumbai on 14th April 2017. The winner, first runner-up and second runner-up teams from each of the city rounds where given trophies,certificates and backpacks from Skybags. Winners in the national finale won cash prizes from Skybags besides many other goodies. |
General Information |
- There was no participation fee for the programme.
- One team represented each school,this team consisted of one student each from standards V, VI and VII respectively.
- Each team was accompanied by one teacher.
- Travel arrangements to and from the venue was done by schools.
- Parents and fellow students were welcomed to watch the quiz. However, schools were requested to check with the local organizers regarding the availability of seating space.
- The quizmaster’s decision was be final.
- Prizes was distributed during the final felicitation programme after the quiz was completed.

Each school had send one team of 3 students from
Middle school.
The quiz had two rounds.
Round 1: Elimination Round of 30 Minutes consisting of Yes/No
Questions
Round 2: On stage round:
Buzzer, Audio-visual, Rapid fire
based on the Core Theme of Nature , Wildlife,
Environment & Conservation
- Questions merged with more popular subjects like
Sports, Movies, Literature, Music: “Juxta” theme

RAJIB SANYAL
|
He has hosted more than 2500 quizzes during the period spanning more than two and a half decades for many leading schools and educational institutions, for corporate entities, chambers of commerce, Ministry of Environment and Forests, Department of Post and Telegraph, at IITF, PragatiMaidan, New Delhi, for Ministry of Finance, Health Quiz for Ministry of Health and Family Planning, The Times NIE Quiz, and so on. His Quiz Book titled ‘Quiz Express’ from ParulPrakashanihas been published and he is presently writing two more books for a reputed publishing house. Besides hosting quizzes, he is also into mentoring &delivering motivational seminars for schools, colleges & corporates. |

Dr. PRAMOD PATIL
|
A medical doctor by education, Dr. Patil is currently working as a conservation officer at Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) for Great Indian Bustard (GIB) conservation through implementation of Species Recovery Program with support from Royal Society for Protection of Birds (RSPB) & BirdLife International UK. His work is focused on designing a conservation plan involving both local community and Forest Department. Dr. Patil is a member of IUCN Species Survival Commission of India and IUCN Bustards Specialists Group. He has been awarded with Whitley Award in London at the hands of HRH Princess Anne in the presence of Sir David Attenborough. |

PRANAD PATIL
|
PranadPatil is the Consulting Editor – Natural History of Saevus Magazine and a naturalist atTadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, Maharshtra. Pranad is a natural history expert by profession and being in the wild is also what tugs at his heart strings. He has followed his passion since the beginning of his career and has made a name for himself as an astute and extremely thorough and enthusiastic naturalist. Pranad is also an avid photographer who uses his photography skills in combination with his natural gift of storytelling to engage his readers and audiences alike. |

RAJIV D’SILVA
|
Rajiv D’Silva is an architect who lives and works in Goa. He has won competitive quizzes all over the country, prominent among them being the Tata Crucible National Finals in 2010 and the Karnataka Quiz Association Open Sesame Quiz in 2011. He is a co-founder of Goa’s Sunday Evening Quiz Club and has served as quizmaster for more than 200 quizzes, including the annual Navhind Times School Quiz, the Goa Management Association BizQuiz, the Times of India College Quiz, the Backwaters Quiz at IIM-Kozhikode, the Quark Open Quiz at BITS-Goa and the Oasis Quiz at BITS-Pilani. He is also the Hon. Secretary of the Goa Bird Conservation Network. |

VRUSHAL PENDHARKAR

Vrushal is a freelance Science and Environment writer & journalist working with media publications like Firstpost, The Wire, Indiabioscience etc. He has undergone field naturalist training and worked extensively in this capacity with leading names like Camp Forktail Creek andTajSafaris. |

BHAVNA MENON
|
Bhavna Menon graduated with a Bachelors degree in Arts from Delhi and later moved to Mumbai to pursue her post-graduate studies in Journalism. She is currently employed with Last Wilderness Foundation, an NGO working towards wildlife conservation. |

VIKRANT CHOURSIYA
|
Vikrant is a naturalist who educates students and adults including bureaucrats about wildlife and its conservation forthe Nature Information Centre (NIC) of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP), Maharashtra. He is also a consultant involved in content writing for GVK-Mumbai. He has conducted numerous nature trail for IB schools, delivered talks at NGO events,conducted training programs for Range Forest Officer trainees and worked as freelance biodiversity expert with various organizations. |
